Success for Ballinderrypupils atImpact Awards

THERE was success for pupils at Ballinderry Primary School recently when they scooped the Promoting Healthy Living award at the Impact 2012 Awards.

DOE Permanent Secretary Leo O’Reilly joined almost 300 young people at the Waterfront Hall for the Impact Youth Sustainability and Environment Awards.

The ceremony recognised and rewarded young people from schools and community groups across Northern Ireland, involved in 12 categories of sustainability and environmental projects.

Mr O’Reilly praised the young people’s enthusiasm, innovation and knowledge.

He said: “My Department is keen to reward these young people who have made such a valuable contribution to our society, economy and environment.

“They have worked hard in many ways to help protect and conserve our environment and have made some wonderful achievements. Their actions show how all of us have a role to play and can make a real impact.”

He continued: “Congratulations to all the entrants and winners. The impact that their actions will have will benefit the world around us for us and future generations.”
