Students urged to takeadvantage of discounts

WITH a new term upon us Translink is encouraging students to use the bus and train and take advantage of the range of special discounted student tickets as the best way to save money.

Lagan Valley Councillors and MLAs encourage students within the Lisburn constituency to help reduce their travel costs and avail of Translink’s great savings with the Translink Student Discount Card.

Translink Service Delivery Manager, Jim McCauley said: “We recognise how tough it is for students trying to budget particularly in the current climate. We have once again held the cost of our Translink Student Discount Card at £7 for the eighth consecutive year.

“We are also reminding passengers we have held all our fares at last years levels and we would encourage all savvy students to check out the great value everyday savings available by using the train and bus.

“I would like to thank the local MLAs and Councillors for their support and with the overall cost of running a car up by 21% in the last year due to increases in fuel, insurance and parking, everyone is keen avail of potential savings.”
