Spring flower show a blooming success

HILLSBOROUGH: The village was in full bloom recently when the Hillsborough Horticultural Society Spring Show was held in the Village Centre.

The Show was well attended and supported, with over 200 entries in the Children’s Art Classes.

The day’s big winners included Mr Nial Watson who took home the special prize for first in Class of 12 varieties, one bloom of each.

Mr Richard McCaw from Hillsborough won the Orr Perpetual Challenge Cup for the most points in the Open Daffodil Classes.

Mr David Pinkerton was awarded the McGredy Cup for the exhibitor gaining most points in the Amateur Intermediate Daffodil Classes.

The winner of the Gray Challenge Cup for the exhibitor gaining most points in the Novice Daffodil Classes was Mr Terry Haley.

The Blue Rosette for the best bloom in the Show was given to Mr Derrick Turbett.

The Mary E Johnston Memorial Perpetual Cup for the best exhibit in the Floral Art Classes went to Mrs Alexandra Hogg from Lisburn.

The Martin Cup for the best children’s exhibit was won by Miss Lucy Gould from Meadow Bridge Primary School.
