Special event raises money for charity

Last week’s ‘Sparkle and Shine’ fundraising day held by local jewellers Shannon’s, raised over £400 for Mencap in Northern Ireland, the learning disability charity has revealed.

“It was wonderful to see so many people enjoying Shannon’s hospitality, taking in the style on offer, availing of manicures and enjoying what was a really relaxing atmosphere in the run up to Christmas,” Una Brown, Mencap’s development manager said.

“I really want to thank Mervyn and his team at Shannon’s for their hospitality and for holding the event which was such a great success. Through events like this and the generosity of all those who took part, Mencap in Northern Ireland is able to support thousands of people with a learning disability each year to live their lives the way they want,” Una continued.

Una Brown also thanked local businesses Style Gallery, Boutique No. 1 and Mak’s Blow Dry Bar who had got on board and donated prizes for the raffle - and Shannon’s for their voucher and special piece of jewellery.

“Once again, I just want to thank Mervyn and his great team for organising the event, as it will benefit people with a learning disability and their families across Northern Ireland,” Una said.
