Soroptimists mark Fairtrade Fortnight

SOROPTIMIST International Lisburn & District held a wine and cheese event last Friday night (February 25) in Oasis Travel to mark the start of Fairtrade Fortnight.

A selection of Fairtrade wines from Co-op were up for tasting and consumption, together with cheese from Fivemiletown Creamery.

Guest of honour was Irish rugby legend Jack Kyle, who not only spoke knowledgeably about the importance of Fairtrade, but treated members and their friends to some poignant, beautiful and amusing recitations. Jack worked in Zambia for 35 years.

The Soroptimists used the evening to “turn wine into water”, with funds raised on the night being given to Wateraid.
