Gillian Lewis, the Resurgam Trust’s Healthy Living Manager, was joined by smoking cessation specialists at a stand in Bow Street Mall, which offered smokers help and advice about kicking the habit and staying quit.

Around 100 people visited the stand over the course to the day to talk about how to stop smoking, stay stopped, or to share stories of how they managed to quit and the impact it’s had on their lives.

“We were delighted to speak to smokers and ex-smokers on No Smoking Day to offer advice and support to those smokers who would like to quit,” Gillian explained.

“We were delighted to promote the specialist stop smoking services provided by the South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust, Cancer Focus NI and Boots Pharmacy, highlighting the help that is available to anyone wanting to talk about their smoking or make steps to quit at any time of the year. We were particularly delighted to hear from ex-smokers to celebrate their achievement and for them to offer encouragement to others.”

The Bow Street Mall event was one of series of activities organised by the Healthy Living Centres Alliance, supported by the Public Health Agency, to promote national No Smoking Day.
