Rural newsletter promotes funding for farm diversification

THE latest issue of the Lagan Rural Partnership Newsletter is now widely available throughout the Lisburn, Castlereagh and Belfast Council areas.

Rural grants are now available under the Northern Ireland Rural Development Programme Fund 2007-2013. Applications are invited under Measure 3.1: Diversification into non-agricultural activities/farm diversification. Details of funding opportunities are available in the Rural News publication or through laganruralpartnership.com

Alderman Allan Ewart, the Chairperson of the Partnership’s Local Action Group, added: “On this occasion funding is only available under Measure 3.1 which is for farm diversification projects. I would encourage anyone who is considering expanding their current business or setting up a new one within the rural community to apply for assistance.

“The team, based in Lisburn City Council, are happy to have a general chat if there is a particular issue a potential applicant has questions on. A number of drop-in advice clinics have already taken place, but we would encourage anyone with an interest in applying for funding to check out their situation.”
