Road improvement scheme to begin outside Moira

A £65,000 road improvement scheme is set to get underway near Moira.

Transport Minister Michelle McIlveen has announced that the Northern Ireland Executive funded scheme on the Clarehill Road is set to begin on Monday 14 December.

Work is expected to complete by Friday 30 January 2016.

The resurfacing works will extend for a distance of approximately one mile from Bottier Road to Redhill Road.

Minister McIlveen said: “This significant investment will greatly improve the strength and surface quality of this road and help resolve ongoing maintenance issues associated with it.”

To help ensure the safety of road users and contractors a road closure will be necessary. A diversion will be in operation via Redhill Road, Steps Road, Belfast Road and Meeting Street, Moira.

As with all improvement schemes of this type the planned dates are subject to favourable weather conditions.

TransportNI has planned the works and traffic management arrangements to minimise any inconvenience, however, drivers should expect some delays and are advised to allow additional time when travelling.
