It is anticipated that more than 35 bands will participate and more than 1,000 spectators are expected to attend.

Police would like to take the opportunity to advise participants and spectators against drinking anywhere along the parade route.

Area Commander Chief Inspector Darrin Jones said, “We want people to enjoy themselves but we would stress that they must do so safely and legally. We are sending out a very clear message that drinking either on the parade route or on the street will not be tolerated and officers will not hesitate to enforce legislation and by-laws.

“We will have officers at various locations around the village and they will confiscate alcohol being consumed illegally and report people to local council, the PPS, or Youth Diversion Officers as appropriate.

Spokesperson for Aghalee Young Volunteers Flute Band Duncan Malcolm said, “Marshals will be assisting the PSNI along the parade route on Saturday and all will be working to ensure that no alcohol is consumed in the area. We hope that everyone takes heed of the advice on offer from the PSNI and the marshals and has a safe, fun and eventful evening.” Chief Inspector Jones added, “Police want people to enjoy themselves and have a good evening out, but we want them to do it with consideration for others.”
