Lisburn based community development organisation, Resurgam, recently presented local charity Cash for Kids with a cheque for £752.
This was as a result of a very successful week of Christmas activities which ran from Monday December 14 until Sunday December 20.
This is the second year that Resurgam has run this week in LaganView Enterprise Centre. Last year saw just over £608 presented to Marie Curie Cancer, The Major’s Charity.
Adrian Bird, Director of The Resurgam Trust stated: “This week was a great opportunity for the whole community to come together, young and old, to celebrate Christmas together while raising money for a worthy cause.
“I would like to thank all groups and organisations involved and of course to all members of our community who supported our week, without which it would not have been possible.”
The week began with the arrival of Santa on the back of a motorbike. Other activities included a holly wreath making workshop, a ladies and gents pamper morning, twilight walks, a cinema night, a senior citizens networking dinner, a Christmas Craft & Gift Fayre, and car wash ending with The Journey Church hosting a Family Food and Fun Evening.
Therese Maguire, Cash for Kids Charity Manager, thanked Resurgam for their support. “We were delighted to be the nominated charity of The Resurgam Trust’s Christmas calendar of events this year,” she said.
“Cash for Kids mission is to raise money for the thousands of local disadvantaged children who rely on charitable support.
“Every penny we raise in Northern Ireland stays here to provide a helping hand where it’s needed most.
“We would just like to say a massive thank you to the team at Resurgam and LaganView Enterprise for all your support and to everyone who donated to Cash for Kids - you have helped us provide the means to give local children a better future and put smiles on thousands of young faces every year.”
