Power pledge for traders ahead of planned supply interruption

Lisburn’s city centre traders are being assured of the provision of vital power during a planned interruption to the electricity supply on Tuesday, June 24.

Northern Ireland Electricity will be switching off the electricity supply from 8am until 5pm on that date in order to conduct essential network maintenance.

However, local businesses are to be held on generator during the scheduled power-cut.

NIE intends to connect a mobile generator at the local substation at Antrim Street to keep the electricity on.

Supply may, though, be interrupted briefly while the generator is being connected and later disconnected.

Northern Ireland Electricity is advising that under no circumstances should anyone, other than its staff, attempt to work on or near the NIE network as upply, they say, may be restored earlier than the stated time or work might have to be cancelled without notice.

NIE apologises for any inconvenience epxerienced.
