Pond Park pupils get an insight into the world of construction

BUDDING engineers at Pond Park Primary School got a treat when a represenative from Farrans paid them a visit.

Gareth McKnight, a site manager with the company, met with P2 pupils to show off the new Lady Wallace Square development.

P2 classes from the school were hosted by Farrans Homes on a field trip to research their school project - building.

Wendy Armstrong (H&S Advisor) and Gareth played host to over 90 children. Gareth explained: “We showed them different materials and also explained the dangers of the site through our Safety Sam presentation. Geoff Porter also put on an excavator display, which the kids loved. At the end of their trip we gave them pencils and a bookmark. We also gave them posters to colour and we awarded a prize for the best pictures in each class.”

Farrans will return to Pond Park in the near future to complete the Safety Sam message. The latest phase of housing at Thaxton by Farrans Homes is proving extremely popular with a number of off plan bookings already having been taken, the first new homeowners are scheduled to move in towards the end of the Summer.
