Speaking after a peaceful protest was held in Lisburn on Thursday evening (April 8), Sir Jeffrey held the meeting to discuss concerns from his constituents about the NI Protocol, as well as issues raised following the Bobby Storey funeral.

“I fully recognise that people have the right to protest but in these difficult times with Coronavirus restrictions, I continue to believe it is important we use the political process to raise our concerns rather than have a situation were protests can sometimes result in violence.

“I welcome the fact that the protest in Lisburn on Thursday evening was peaceful and our thanks goes to all involved for that.

“I had a meeting with the Secretary of State and the Chief Constable and made note to them of the very real concerns the people I represent have about the current situation and the impact of the Northern Ireland Protocol and the lack of confidence in policing decisions made around the Bobby Storey funeral.

“These issues do need to be resolved.”
