Plantation Road calming measures ‘make no sense’

I REFER to an article dated December 17 2010 stating that road calming measures for the Plantation Road are to go ahead.

I found this article surprising as I know from speaking to other residents in the area that very few people want these ramps placed on our peaceful rural road destroying the area’s ambiance, not to mention the cars using the road.

I would also take this opportunity to point out that in the recent difficult winter given the fact the Plantation Road is never gritted, any grip and momentum gained was essential for traffic to get up the road. If vehicles had to slow or indeed stop for ramps, negotiation of the road would have been impossible for the majority of residents.

I feel to proceed will not only be a waste of money but it is proven that such measures do not improve safety but indeed are detrimental.

Surely it would make more sense to canvass the people of the area directly and get an accurate representation as to their feelings on this matter before proceeding.
