The Easter bunny and his enthusiastic helpers were out and about in Ballymacash over the Easter weekend, delivering special treats to all the young people in the area.

On Easter Saturday the group delivered over 1000 Easter parcels to children and families in the Ballymacash area.

Community Worker Valerie Douglas said: “I believe we learned today that community spirit is still there 100%, despite the difficult situation we are in.

Volunteers were out on the road from 10 am - 4.30pm working tirelessly, and with a smile and a well wish for everyone.

“We are made up of every group and organisation in the area, including Ballymacash Regeneration Network, Ballymacash Rangers FC, Windmill Stores, Ballymacash Sports Academy, Ballymacash Cultural Awareness Project, to the churches in Ballymacash.

“Our team of volunteers are made up of people from every walk of life. From Pride of Ballymacash Flute Band, ABOD and Alderman Amanda Grehan.

“The Mayor of Lisburn and Castlereagh joined us along with Paul Givan MLA.

“We are a community that has come together and are working together for the community.”
