Mother feelslet down by‘fun day’

UNLIKE Lisburn City Council, I was far from delighted that the wristbands for this year’s Family Fun Day were almost all allocated on the first day of issue.

As a Lisburn citizen, mother and ratepayer I feel very let down by the Council.

For the past 14 years we have supported the Mayor’s Parade and Fun Day whatever the weather, but this year my children were unable to join in the fun because we hadn’t obtained wristbands.

It annoys, indeed angers me to think that my children and many of my friends’ children missed the fun while many of the concertgoers had never supported the event before and indeed were there purely to take advantage of a free Jedward concert.

If the Mayor’s Parade returns to its old format next year, I wonder just how many of the people who travelled from as far as Dublin and beyond will return to support the event?

Perhaps next year Lisburn City Council might like to provide wristbands for the children of Lisburn in their parents’ rates bills!
