It is time to get real

HAVING read the excellent coverage of letters in the Star, I am compelled to reply to three letters in particular.

I fully concur with Seymour Dugan. This letter firmly nails the problem as to why city centre businesses are suffering and really exposes how out of touch our elected MLAs and Councillors have become, or are they simply out of their depth? I say this as I read Alderman Ewart’s letter in response to dog fouling. No one questions the need to have effective deterrents in place but surely Alderman Ewart would be better served trying to deliver the City out of the current economic mess. In response to the Art on the Rails letter, again they may be doing good work in the community but I find their location to promote their art very disrespectful as they occupy the area in and around the War Memorial and UDR Memorial.

Finally, all this hype of city centre masterplans. Investment by large named stores have delivered nothing for Lisburn in the past. It is time for elected representatives to get back to reality for the betterment of the City of Lisburn.
