Branch and MLA are clearly not in tune
A FEW weeks ago I read a letter in your paper referring to the ‘Punch and Judy Politics’ of the Ulster Unionist Party and I have to fully concur with those sentiments after reading the statement from Lisburn Branch UUP Chairman Mr Mitchell, stating Lisburn Branch endorses Mr Mike Nesbitt as the best candidate to lead the party.
Above that very statement the only UUP Lagan Valley MLA Basil McCrea is reported as endorsing the other candidate Mr John McCallister for leader.
As a one time Ulster Unionist voter, it clearly demonstrates to me the Lisburn Branch are clearly not influenced or supportive of their MLA’s viewpoint. I can only conclude it’s a ‘Family at War’ locally and province wide.
