There were tears of laughter and joy for a group of old friends who grew up in the Hillhall area over 60 years ago and met up again for a special reunion at Alexander’s Bar.
One of the men, Rodney Neil, from Canada, who was over for a holiday, had not seen many of the others for over 40 years.
Stories of their times at Hillhall Road, Mercer Street and Greenwood as well as their school years at Largymore Brownlee and Lisburn Central were told.
Organiser George Scott of Voluntary Services now hopes to make the reunion an annual event.
“It was something that I had always planned to do, to have a reunion, but never got round to it,” he said.
“When I heard Rodney was over I thought that it was a great opportunity for everyone to meet up.”
Among those who attended were George Scott, Barry McCloy, Victor McCarthy, Edward McNeil, Ronald Bruce, Jo Brown, Gary Alexander, Lesley Fullerton, Colin Patterson, Tom Patterson, Ritchie Gorman, Robin Cairns, Billy McNair, Jim Hanna, Bobby Walker, Johnny Curran,
Rodney Neil, George McCartney, Will Foie, Tom Coburn, David D Bruce, Wilbert Swann, Dessie Brown and Richard Hasley.
