New look for Wallace pupils with change of uniform

THERE will be a new look for pupils at Wallace High School next year after the school’s new uniform was unveiled recently.

Incoming Year 8 pupils to Wallace this September will be the first to wear the new uniform which was designed after extensive consultation with parents, staff and pupils.

It features woollen blazers edged with maroon. The girls’ blazers are a little more elaborate with edging on the lapels whilst the boys’ blazers have one distinctive band above the cuff.

Ties, which feature the distinctive colours of the school houses, have been modified to tone with the new blazers as has the colouring of the school crest. The new ties will be worn exclusively by the Year 8 pupils.

Wallace is also introducing a new design in skirts; girls in Years 8 to 11 will wear the new longer skirts which feature pleats and these skirts will be phased in over a two year period.

Pupils Mark Acheson and Sarah Symington, who were involved in a special photoshoot to introduce the new uniform, both thought the blazers were a stylish and distinctive look for the school.

Principal Deborah O’Hare said: “At Wallace we value the opinions of our parents and pupils and we were delighted with the positive feedback we gained. Members of the School Council played a key role in some final decision making. We are anticipating an excellent intake in Year 8 in September and are really looking forward to seeing the new uniform being worn.

“Our school suppliers McCalls and Warnocks will be delighted, as always, to assist parents with the purchase of all uniform requirements. Phasing in the new uniform will take several years but we feel we have a new look which will define Wallace for many years to come.”
