New eateries planned for Sprucefield

SPRUCEFIELD could soon be the home to a host of new eateries.

A planning application has been submitted seeking permission for the construction of new restaurants, cafes and fast food outlets.

The application has recently been submitted by David Prentice Properties to transform the former car showroom close to the site of the wireless transmission station at Sprucefield shopping centre.

If granted permission the proposed development will bring with it an eight unit mix of restaurants, cafes and fast food outlets, as well as a petrol station and associated shop.

A spokesperson from David Prentice Properties commented: “We are pleased to have submitted these plans.

The proposal will bring significant investment to the area and will generate employment during both the construction phase and once operational and occupied.”

He continued: “We feel that the mix of restaurant outlets will be a welcome addition to Sprucefield.

“We have already received a number of inquiries about the units and are currently in discussions with a number of recognised restaurant brands.

“The proposed petrol station on site will also be of great convenience to all Southbound traffic,” he concluded.
