The Early Intervention Lisburn Project has launched its new ‘Supporting Families Directory of Services’ for Lisburn.

The launch event took place in the new Resurgam Youth Centre in Old Warren and was facilitated by Mayor Brian Bloomfield MBE and Mr Colin Elliott, Principal of Brownlee Primary.

The Early Intervention Lisburn project was initiated in 2011 by the Resurgam Trust to improve outcomes for children, young people and families living in the local area. Giving parents a better knowledge of what services are available in Lisburn to support families has been a project priority.

Early Intervention Lisburn recognises that all parents, regardless of their circumstances need help at some point in their child’s life, and the new directory is one way to ensure the right service is given at the right time to the right person.

“I am very pleased to be associated with the launch of this directory,” Councillor Bloomfield said. “It provides a comprehensive reference source for families in need of support along with a catalogue of the services available across the Lisburn area. I hope it will prove of great value not only to those who need support but also all those involved in community service provision generally. Congratulations to all those involved in the production of this directory.”

Mr Elliott added: “The Directory of Services is a great idea and will help link families to programmes and services in the local area. As a school we have been delighted with all the early intervention strategies that have been made available to us through the Resurgam Trust. To date we have been able to avail of The Incredible Years, Mentoring for Achievement, Talk Boost and Dina puppets for P1 and P2. These intervention programmes have made a significant impact on both the children’s learning and involvement with parents in areas such as school readiness.

“We look forward to continued partnership with this Early Intervention initiative in the interests of both our current and future pupils.”
