A survey questionnaire on community services and good relations is online at its new website www.lisburncastlereagh.gov.uk

The purpose of the consultation is to help inform and assist the development of a Community Plan and Good Relations Plan to support community development and the promotion of good relations in the new council area. The council wants to hear from as many residents as possible through the survey.

The initiative was launched with community representatives from both the Lisburn and Castlereagh areas, with the Chairman of the Shadow Leisure and Community Development Committee, Councillor Thomas Beckett; Vice Chairman Councillor John Gallen and the Chief Executive Dr Theresa Donaldson.

Mandy Gilmore from Atlas Woman’s Centre in Lisburn; David Livingstone, Vice Chairman of Ballybean Improvement Group in Castlereagh; Joe Largey from the Glenavy Development Partnership and Elana Patterson from the Carryduff Forum came together to help promote awareness of the community consultation among residents. Community Groups within the new area are also being consulted on community services and good relations.

A number of Public Consultation Events organised by Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council will also take place in January 2015 and the council would encourage residents to get involved and attend one of the events.

The Chairman, Councillor Thomas Beckett, said: “I would like to thank the community group representatives from both the Lisburn and Castlereagh areas for helping us launch this important work. We hope that people will get involved and provide us with their views on what is important to them so that community planning development work can begin in 2015.”
