The refurbishment of the play area was undertaken by the Crawford Contracts Group.

Councillor Thomas Beckett, Chairman of the Council’s Leisure Services Committee, added: “I am delighted to be able to welcome local parents and children to the refurbished play area. The play area has been a vital part of the Moira community for over 15 years and the Council is delighted that it is always well utilised.

“Moira Demesne is not only home to the play area but also the location of many events throughout the year that bring visitors from further afield to the charming village of Moira.

“I would like to thank the Lagan Rural Partnership for providing 75% funding to the project, which cost £128,000 including the installation of outdoor fitness equipment. Such funding provision is invaluable to the completion of leisure projects across the Lisburn area to benefit our residents.

“On behalf of the Council I wish young residents and visitors to Moira every enjoyment of this state-of-the-art facility,” he concluded.
