Moira boy ‘Makes The Difference’ and wins top ‘hero’ accolade
Adam Kerr won the ‘Spirit of Youth’ award at this year’s Making The Difference Awards months after being selected for the National Hero Award at the UK Family Heroes Awards in London in October.
Adam’s mum described him as an ‘inspiration to everyone.’
Courageous
Adam spent half his young life working tirelessly for others. When he was six years old he took the first courageous steps to donate bone marrow to his three year old sister Helen after she developed a very rare blood disorder.

Hide AdHelen sadly lost her fight for life but undeterred Adam focused on helping other children with cancer.
Through amazing determination he raised over £5,000 for a family friend needing a bone marrow transplant. He has also been a dedicated fund raiser for the NI Cancer Fund for Children. And after his own experience has given tremendous support and counselling to other bereaved children.
The Making the Difference Awards, which were held recently in the Grand Opera House, brought together an array of exceptional people from across Northern Ireland to celebrate the achievements of all nominees and recognise the inspirational winners.

Guests were entertained by some of Northern Ireland’s best local talent including the Omagh Youth Community Choir, dance groups Diamond Dance and Ajendance, 130 kids from the Grand Opera House’s summer production of Bugsy Malone, Australia’s Got Talent semi finalists Afrikan Warriors, comedienne May McFettridge, Peter Corry and the local cast of Oklahoma.
