Man is killed in 
Hannahstown

A Poleglass teenager was killed in a car crash in Hannahstown on Sunday 
morning. The man, named locally as John Paul McShane was killed when the car he was travelling in crashed just after 8am.

It was reported that a red Peugeot 406 estate had crashed on the Upper Springfield road.

Police have appealed for anyone who witnessed the crash to contact them. Two men, aged 20 and 21, were later arrested on suspicion of motoring offences.

The road was closed for several hours in both directions between Hannahstown Hill and the Monagh Bypass as emergency services attended the scene.

The latest fatality brings the number of people killed on Northern Ireland’s roads to 32 this year - compared to 25 for the same period in 2013.

Mr McShane’s friends took to social media last night to express their shock and grief.

One post read, “Can’t believe it sdfff’ in bitsss lovee youuu jayloo !! always be my number one baby-cakes xx.”

Sean Paul McShane, said, “absolute madness.. can’t believe it. RIP Jaylo god only takes the best.”
