Man arrested after armed robberies in Lisburn

A MAN has been arrested after an armed robbery in the Longstone Streeet area of Lisburn.

The 28-year-old was detained after the incident at business premises on Thursday night.

Shortly after 9:05pm, it was reported that a masked man entered the property armed with a knife. It is believed staff were threatened and the man made off from the scene on a bicycle with a sum of money. No one was injured.

Police have linked the incident to a later robbery in the Hillsborough Road area nearby. Shortly after 11:20pm a sum of money was taken from premises in the area.

Police are appealing for information about a blue car believed to have been involved. Officers are also keen to speak to a man who may have witnessed the incident.

At this stage, police are also investigating a possible link with an armed robbery at the Old Warren area on Wednesday night May when a quantity of cigarettes and a sum of money was taken.

The arrest of the man came shorly after 1:30am on Friday, 4th May in the Causeway End Road area. He is currently helping police with their enquiries
