Longstone traders feel more promotion needed

A LISBURN Councillor says more must be done to include Longstone businesses when the city is being promoted.

Cllr Alan Carlisle (left) says he was recently contacted by Longstone traders who were disappointed not to be included in a leaflet produced by Lisburn City Centre Management called ‘Spring in to Lisburn City Centre’.

Mr Carlisle said: “Business owners are quite angry that they have been excluded as they feel it would have helped their trade in these tough times.

“Shops within the city are closing as a result of poor trade and this would have been a great opportunity for their businesses to have been advertised to more of the public.”

A spokesperson for Lisburn City Centre Management said: “The Spring into Lisburn booklet was produced by Lisburn City Centre Management to provide an overview of the key events happening in and around Lisburn City Centre throughout the Spring period. A map of the main City Centre Shopping area was included to remind shoppers and potential visitors of the excellent range of independent and high street stores that attract people to the City. There is also a great range of retail and leisure options in areas adjacent to the main pedestrian area including Longstone Street and Lisburn Leisure Park. However, due to obvious space limitations, on this occasion the focus the booklet of was the core shopping area.”
