Local horticultural society holds AGM

HILLSBOROUGH Horticultural Society held its Annual General Meeting on March 28.

As well as the usual business, the theme for the evening was ‘Exhibiting at Shows’. Mr Richard McCaw gave an interesting practical demonstration on choosing, preparing and staging daffodils for Show purposes. Mrs Maike Dring and Miss Jacqui Townsley illustrated with a PowerPoint presentation how to show other flowers, fruit and vegetables. Members left the meeting enthusiastically talking about submitting more entries for Shows in due course.

The AGM also included a comprehensive review of the past year by the Chairman, Mr Derek Alexander; and a financial report by the Treasurer, Mrs Barbara Oliver.
