Local camera clubs get in the frame

The season to date has been a great success and has resulted in a show down for the top places. This week 29 photographers of all levels took a chance to show and compete with their Colour, Monochrome and Projected Digitial images.

At the NIPA exhibition which runs until Monday April 8, at the Waterfront Hall top photographers from all over Northern Ireland got the chance to show off their large scale images. This years selection was made by Peter Cheetham, President of the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain (PAGB) from nearly 300 images submitted and is one of the highlights of the year.

Friday April 19, will see all the top images from each round go head to head for the top image of the year challenge hosted by Banbridge Camera Club.

Lisburns Ross McKelvey, from the Finaghy based Catchlight Camera Club, was in form once again with a third in Colour Prints and a second in PDIs.

The results have now helped the Catchlight Camera Club, into second overall so this Wednesday will be a bit of a nail biter for all concerned.

Banbridge Camera Club had a big set of points on the night and in Mono Prints Thomas Richardson took a second on the night. However, Michael Maguire took an outright win in Colour Prints and the results now take them to third overall.

Ballynahinch’s David Barr had one of his best results and after taking a second in Mono Prints. As a result, the Ballynahinch club now moves into sixth overall and very much in with a crack at the top five.

Shorts Recreation club near Holywood was also in focus recently when Peter Cheetham, President of the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain (PAGB) and his wife Carol presented a special lecture after selecting entries for the NIPA exhibition. At that event, Banbridge’s Kieran Murray was presented a special Neil Marshall Memorial Award for his recent results at PAGB national level.
