Local artist has show at the Island Arts Centre

Lisburn artist Clinton Kirkpatrick has just opened his latest exhibition at the Island Arts Centre.

Clinton, whose work has also been displayed at the Ulster Hall and the Waterfront, spent time in Kenya in 2011 and his trip there has heavily inspired his latest work.

Clinton first went to Kenya in 2011 as a volunteer. Whilst there he started teaching drawing to two different groups. W hen he came home Clinton created a new body of painting (large-scale 4x5ft and 6x5ft paintings) which filled the Waterfront Hall Gallery 2 space in March 2012.

Clinton fundraised for eight months to return to Kenya and work as an artist to learn, understand, discover, teach, paint and submerse in the culture. A further nine weeks were spent in Kenya. Work included painting and drawing, teaching creative writing and drawing to the Naivasha Children’s Shelter and introducing himself to artists and organisations.

Upon returning home in December Clinton was invited to exhibit in the Island Arts Centre in Lisburn.

The exhibition, ‘Sixty Two Days. Raining on the Sun’, is on display throughout June and will form a much larger body of work during this year.
