Lisburn will pause to remember the fallen

ON Sunday November 11, Lisburn will fall silent as the city pauses to remember the fallen of two world wars, as well as subsequent conflicts, both at home and abroad.

In Lisburn a parade will gather at the Royal British Legion in Sackville Street at 10.30am before moving off, led by Lisburn Young Defenders Flute Band.

The parade will make its way through the city centre to the war memorial in Castle Gardens.

Services will also be held in other parts of the city.

Short services will also be held in Seymour Hill at the front of the estate at 9am on Sunday morning and at Hilden war memorial at 10am.

The Mayor of Lisburn, Alderman William Leathem, encouraged local people to take part in Remebrance services. “This is a very poignant time of the year,” he said. “I would encourage people to attend their church services this Sunday, wherever you worship, and please remember those in our community and from further afield who are facing difficult times whatever those may be. We will join with National Services of Remembrance in Lisburn next Sunday morning and by the laying of wreaths and by our prayers we will remember servicemen and women who have lost their lives through war”
