This year, the partnership venture, which has spanned five years, involved a fundraising ‘Pink Saturday’ in store, with raffles, pink buns, wigs and fancy dress alongside a cause-related marketing campaign in October focusing on Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The overall total amount raised by Menarys and Tempest stores has now reached a staggering £75,000.

Gillian Thomson, Corporate Fundraising Officer with the charity, said, “Working with Menarys and Tempest is always a great opportunity to showcase our services to such a fitting mother-and-daughter market, as it fits our breast screening demographics of 40-49 years and 70-plus perfectly, enabling Action Cancer to reach women with key lifestyle messages.

“It’s important to promote how ladies can be breast aware, highlighting how early detection really can save lives.

“Additionally, the funds raised by stores has been incredible and will help us provide more breast screening, MOT health checks, counselling and support for people going through cancer.

“I would like to say a big thank-you to all Menarys and Tempest staff members and customers who made a huge effort to support Action Cancer, the fundraising total of £7,665 is an outstanding achievement.”

Melissa Gormley from Menarys / Tempest said, “We are absolutely delighted with our 2015 Action Cancer fundraising efforts. Our staff and customers are really enthusiastic about the Action Cancer campaign as we all know someone who has been affected by cancer in some way.

“We had fun raising the funds through a variety of events including a staff auction, male leg waxing, and lots of individual store events and in-store activity that customers could avail of.”
