Lisburn graphic designer wins international congress design

A PARTNER in Lisburn-based graphic design consultancy 2b:creative, has won an international competition to design the graphic identity for the 50th International Eucharistic Congress of the Roman Catholic Church.

Talking about his design Martin Barlow said, “I sought to express a sense of community, belonging, celebration and acceptance through the graphic representation of the four people with arms outstretched and at the same time keep the overall feeling modern and colourful.” He continued, “Biblically, my design concept was based on the idea of people ‘from every nation, race, tribe and language’ (Rev.7:9) being drawn together in Communion as ‘One Body’ formed by faith in the person of Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God, and the sacrifice he made upon the cross.

“Paragraph 3 of The Encyclical Letter “Ecclesia de Eucharistia” of his holiness Pope John Paul II sums up the design. The Church was born of the paschal mystery. For this very reason the Eucharist, which is in an outstanding way the sacrament of the paschal mystery, stands at the centre of the Church’s life.”
