LaganView enterprise centre races into the business Top 10

LISBURN community enterprise centre, LaganView Enterprise Centre, has been listed among the top ten fastest growing social economy newcomers in the Royal Bank of Scotland SE100 Index 2011.

This index was set up last year to track the success of social businesses across the UK by examining both their growth and the impact that they make. Social enterprises differ from commercial businesses in that they trade for social and environmental purposes and these purposes are central to what they do-their profits are reinvested to sustain and further their mission for positive change.

LaganView Enterprise Centre was ranked number 9 in the top ten fastest growing newcomers, the only social enterprise newcomer in Northern Ireland to be listed in the top ten.

Joanne Casey, Centre Manager in LaganView says the listing reflects the positive impact that social businesses are having on the economy. Social enterprises are on the rise, are growing with an upward trajectory, are profitable, are trading and are making an impact in today’s economy.

This is the first year that LaganView has submitted information to be collated within the index and centre manager, Joanne, admits she was pleasantly surprised to be listed within the top ten fastest growing newcomers.

LaganView has been in operation now for just over three years and business is simply flourishing. Joanne would like to take this opportunity to thank all the centre’s clients who continue to support the centre through hire of its facilities and the lease of its workspace. This ranges from small community groups, charities and funded groups to organisations in the private and public sector.

LaganView is committed to promoting the ethos of the Social Economy Sector across the City of Lisburn and has a strong commitment to contributing to the social and economic development in the area.
