IFEX Success for Stepping Stones NI

LISBURN’S leading learning disability Charity Stepping Stones NI was on cloud nine last week after receiving the news that four trainees received awards – three Bronze medals and a merit of recommendation at the recent Culinary Ability Awards.

The awards are run as part of the IFEX event in Belfast’s Kings Hall. Stepping Stones’ four contenders; Kelly Ann, Christian, Kyle and David were supported by not only Stepping Stones staff but also by Chef mentors from some of Northern Ireland’s best eateries. These included chefs from The Slieve Donard Resort and Spa, The Mulberry Tree, Springsteens Lisburn and Café Vic-Ryn.

The trainee chefs had just 40 minutes to create a restaurant standard dish under the watchful eye of their mentors and the judges.

Chief Officer Paula Jennings commented: “We are all absolutely delighted with this news. Receiving recognition at such prestigious awards is amazing for our trainees, and so well deserved. I would also like to thank our Chef Mentors for all of their support and guidance.”
