Mr McAuley, who spoke to the Star ahead of the launch, said he was delighted to have secured the prestigious venue as he had always had his heart set on launching the trilogy in a library.

“Eighty Eight was borne out of a throw away conversation with a doctor who had attended a global cancer conference in Baltimore, USA,” he explained. “She had been shocked to learn just how much money, jobs and research were invested into finding a cure for the disease.

“I started wondering what would happen if a cure was found for all cancers.

“A plot developed along the lines of the discovery of a cure for all ills that could lead to a global cover up by pharmaceutical multi-nationals to control populations for profit in a political bid for world domination.”

“Eighty Eight has been a labour of love for five years and is very close to my heart.

“Although the reader gets to travel around the world the plot is strongly anchored in the Northern Ireland landscape.

“I was delighted to launch the trilogy at the Linen Hall Library and hope that readers will love Amulet and Empire as much as they have Eighty Eight.”

The Eighty Eight story begins in the quiet waters of Strangford Lough when marine biologist Doctor Eva Ballantine makes an astonishing discovery that will shake humanity to its very core.

An explosive story of miracles, espionage and mayhem unfolds, still allowing for breathing pauses to connect to the humanity of each character.
