Helios IT makes a confident move to city

Helios IT, one of Northern Ireland’s leading technology support companies, has undergone a strong period of growth, reporting a 21% increase for quarter one.

As a result, the business needed to source bigger premises to support future expansive and after an extensive search of locations, Lisburn came up top as the ideal location for the next chapter of the business.

At the official opening of the Helios IT premises Lagan Valley MP Jeffrey Donaldson said: “I am delighted to welcome Helios IT to Lisburn. Their choice of Lisburn as the most suitable location for their business is a welcome boost for our local economy and will help to encourage other businesses to locate in the City. The services offered by Helios IT are precisely the kind of support service that we want to encourage in Lisburn and I would wish Garry MacDonald and his team every success with the growth of their business.”

 Also commenting at the launch the Deputy Mayor of Lisburn Councillor Andrew Ewing state: “On behalf of Lisburn City Council I would add my voice in welcoming Helios IT to our City. The Council is working hard together with our local MP and Lisburn Chamber of Commerce to attract new businesses to Lisburn. 

“We are particularly interested in attracting IT companies to the City and the fact that Helios IT have chosen Lisburn confirms that we are an excellent location for such businesses.”

After residing for almost ten years in its previous premises in East Belfast, it was not an easy decision to make, explained Garry MacDonald, Managing Director of Helios IT. “Over the last number of years, we have seen significant business growth and whilst our office based in East Belfast had served us well, we really needed to source premises that would support us as we continue to grow,” he said.

“In our search for new premises, we had to make sure we got the right balance and it became clear early on that Lisburn could deliver on size of premises, convenient location with easy access to all main routes and affordability. Lisburn is a fantastic City for businesses and I think we are entering it at a great time – Lisburn has huge potential.”

Technical Director, Aaron Shimmons, who is from Lisburn, added: “Lisburn is an excellent location with great ease for commuting in any direction. It also has superb fibre broadband which was essential for our office and means we can deliver an even better service to clients.
