Givan welcomes new speed signs

The signs, faded considerably over time, were recently replaced following representations to TransportNI by Mr Givan.

“I welcome the speedy replacement of these speed limit gateway signs on Belmont Drive,” he said. “Over time both the red circle and black writing have become more difficult to see and I believe it is important motorists are aware of the changes in speed limit when travelling from Derriaghy Road into the built-up Belmont Drive area.

“The fast response to my representation from the local section office is very welcome and with further funding being made available for roads maintenance I would anticipate further positive results in these areas in coming months.

“The new signs are a timely reminder for road-users to slow down, especially in residential areas where young children are playing . . .

“It’s important when drivers are changing from a 50mph to a 30mph zone that speed is reduced and these signs will help alert drivers. I have also reported other signs in this area for replacement.”
