Funding for search and rescue

A local search and rescue organisation is amongst the groups to receive additional funding from the Northern Ireland Executive.

The funding allocation for the incoming year will almost double to almost £100,000.

Civil Aviation Patrol Skywatch, which is based on the Moira Road, will receive £1,280 in additional funding.

Skywatch is one of seven search and rescue groups to get a boost from the Executive, the Department of Finance revealed last week.

Over £90,000 will be made available for the 2015/2016 financial year, an increase from £46,000.

The Northern Ireland Practitioners Group had bid for funding to allow the groups to continue.
