Funding for new community centres is welcomed

Two community centres in Lisburn are to benefit from investment from the Office of the First and Deputy First Minister.

The investment is due to come from the Social Investment Fund and will benefit West Lisburn Community Centre and the Laganview Enterprise Centre.

West Lisburn Community Centre is due to receive £558,484 to redevelop the current site and provide a new youth centre. Laganview Enterprise Centre is to receive £385,016 to fund a new extension.

Commenting on the investment Lisburn and Castlereagh Ulster Unionist Councillor Tim Mitchell commented: “I’m really pleased to welcome this investment.

“Both these community centres serve the people of Lisburn South well and I hope that this new investment will allow the provision of new and much needed services.

“I welcome the fact that Lisburn Council has stepped forward as the Lead Partner to deliver these projects.

“The council has a track record of delivering such projects effectively and professionally.

“I hope that these announcements will add fresh impetus to the campaign for a similar community centre in Ballymacoss.”
