Final fundraising drive as St Paul’s team look forward to dedication of Kenyan church

NEXT month a team from St Paul’s Church in Lisburn will be travelling to Kenya for the official opening of the church they helped to build.

Over the last year members of the Lisburn congregation have been working hard to raise money for the construction of the church in Imberikani in Kenya.

The church is now nearing completion and the Lisburn team are eagerly looking forward to seeing the fruits of their labour.

Fifteen members of the church will be flying out to Kenya in June to finish the building and to attend the dedication of the building by Bishop Gadiell. The new church will be named St Paul’s in honour of the Lisburn church, which is celebrating its fiftieth anniversary this year. The new church will also feature a cross made from two Irish oak pews from the Lisburn church.

Before the team leave for Kenya, they have organised another fundraising event to raise even more money for the new church.

A vintage vehicle show will be held at the Ballinderry Road church on Friday May 11 at 7.30pm. As well as the show there will be a host of stalls, including auto jumble, home baked cakes, refreshment and a variety of items will also be on sale in the church hall.

Vehicles for the show can arrive any time from 6pm and there will be a prize for the best vehicle on show.

Entrance fee is a minimum donation of £5 per vehicle and refreshments will be free to all drivers.
