Local MLA Edwin Poots has welcomed moves made by the council to tackle dog fouling.
He said he contacted Lisburn and Castlereagh Environmental Services Department after the dog fouling problem in Maghaberry was highlighted in the Ulster Star.
Mr Poots said, “We went to see the state of the dog fouling in Maghaberry and it was a disgrace. I have now worked with Environmental Services Department and established crisis areas where extra resources will be put in place to stop fouling and penalise any one who commits this crime.”
He said he welcomed a ‘blitz type’ campaign in dealing with dog fouling across the city.
