Students from St. Patrick’s Academy met internationally bestselling author Cecelia Ahern at the Irish Linen Centre and Lisburn Museum on Thursday 26 May.
Cecelia is currently on tour to promote her debut Young Adult novel, ‘Flawed’, which has been critically acclaimed and is already on its way to being one of 2016’s bestsellers.
Eason’s Bookshop helped to facilitate the meeting and students were said to be enthralled by Cecelia’s ‘inspirational’ words.
They also had the opportunity to interview her about her books and experiences as a successful author. The event finished with a book signing session.
The Head of English at St. Patrick’s said: “This was a wonderful event as the pupils and staff had the opportunity to meet one of their literary heroines. We were thrilled that pupils from Lisnagarvey High School and Laurelhill Community College could also attend and share this experience with us.
“Thanks must go to the staff of Easons and the Lisburn Museum for helping make this event such as success.”
Year 12 student, Aimee Rose said: “I was totally star struck when I met Cecelia! I’ve been a fan of hers for a long time and have read all her books.
“Getting to ask my favourite author questions about her writing was the highlight of the event for me.
“I really enjoyed today and can’t wait to read the next book in the ‘Flawed’ series.”
The event proved to be another successful literacy collaboration between Eason Bookshop and St. Patrick’s Academy in promoting reading for pleasure among students.
