Diabetes group to hold meeting

Guest speaker is Mr Bill Thompson, Northern Ireland Assistance Dogs Co-ordinator and his topic is Man’s best friend - how he is trained and used in the recognition of hypos.

Bill has formed this non-profit community based organisation with another couple to aid those with a disability or medical condition or those who were in need of a companion dog.

The medical alert dog benefits people with diabetes whereby they are trained to alert that a medical crisis, eg hypo is coming. The advance notice allows the person to get to a safe place and take needed medication
