Darcy will model at a preview of the show’s 20th anniversary autumn and winter collection on August 20, before taking to the catwalk again for Fashionweek in October,

Darcy is a keen sportswoman, playing netball, badminton, hockey and tennis for her school. And it was her tennis coach who suggested she would make a perfect model, putting her in touch with well known agent Cathy Martin.

Darcy loves fashion and shopping and is really looking forward to trying on lots of new clothes for her first assignments.

“I had an interview and we did a test shoot a few weeks ago,” explained Darcy. “After Cathy saw the photos she asked me if I would like to be part of Fashionweek.

“I was really happy about it but a bit nervous as well.”

There has been a great response to Darcy’s photos on social media and she has been shocked that she has already been in demand by local media.

However, Darcy’s friends and family are keeping her feet firmly on the ground.

Darcy’s mum Brenda has been supporting her daughter but has stressed that her education is also vitally important.

“I am involved in everything,” explained Brenda. “Everyone was always telling us that Darcy should be a model so we decided to give it a go. She is just testing the water at the minute and who knows what will happen in the future.

“It is important to keep everything in balance. Darcy is enjoying the excitement of all this at the moment and we will wait to see what the future holds. She needs to do well in school and she has sporting ambitions as well.”

Belfast Fashionweek runs from October 15-18 and thousands will flock to Darcy strut her stuff on the catwalk.
