woman raises money for unit

A Crumlin woman has raised over £40,000 for the Cancer Children Cancer Unit at the Royal over the years, after a relation died of leukaemia almost two decades ago.

Florence Faulkner recently raised £2,150.00 by holding a fashion show at Crumlin Integrated Primary School where the staff and the children were the stars and a bed push where friends and family took part in a bed push from Crumlin to Ballymoney in September.

DownTown Radio fame, too held a street collection in 
Banbridge town centre recently and raised over £1,000.

Florence has been raising money for the cancer unit over 18 years after a relative, Tommy Vance from Ballynahinch died from leukaemia when he was just four years of age. Since then Florence has gathered friends and family to help raise much needed funds for the unit over the years. Throughout the years Florence, has held numerous fundraising events. Against doctors advice she took part in a sky dive, but has organised various discos and dances, fashion shows and ballots.

Friends and family Bronagh McCauley, Lynne Campbell. Denise Coulter, and her husband Tom, Lizzie and Ella Foreman, and Ann Gilmore helped out in the recent bed push.

Next year, Florence now plans to take things up a level and as well as holding a May Ball, at the Ballymac Hotel with special guests the Indians, she wants to be a passenger on the back of a motorbike at the North West or the Ulster Grand Prix.
