A 29-year-old Lisburn man was fined £400 last Friday at Craigavon Magistrates Court for assault on the police in Lurgan on November 22 last year.
Stuart Michael Holding, Jubilee Avenue, was also fined £100 for attempted criminal damage and £100 for disorderly behaviour.
The court heard that at 1.45am police were called to deal with a man who had been put out of a bar.
The defendant, who is the son of this person, became involved. After he threw a punch he was arrested for assault on police and taken to the station where he kicked out at the window of a police car.
When interviewed Holding denied striking the officer. A solicitor for the defendant said he was genuinely embarrassed by his actions.
He added that it was an alcohol induced incident.
District Judge, Mr Peter King, said that reading the constable’s statement it was ‘fairly unedifying’. He added that Holding had said ‘think I’m scared of that uniform’ and ‘I’ll kick you up and down the street’. CS gas also had to be used.
