Firefighters attacked

A FIRE appliance was damaged when crews came under attack by youths when they attended a fire at a primary school in Poleglass.

A number of portable cabins at St Kieran’s Primary School, Bell Steele Road, Dunmurry were broken into on Friday evening and then set alight. Three of the mobiles were broken into and one was extensively damaged when it was set on fire. When fire crews attended the scene at around 7.45-8pm they came under attack from stone throwers. A fire appliance was damaged as a result. Lisburn police are investigating the incident. They are urging anyone who can help in identifying the criminals concerned in the burglary and arson or involved in the public order offences, attacking fire service personnel and criminal damage to the fire appliance, to contact them with details.
