Concert raises £4,000 for Eloise

A weekend variety concert in Christ Church has been hailed a huge success, raising £4,000 for the grandaughter of one of the church parishioners.

Little four-year-old Eloise is suffering from a rare bone cancer.

She has had the bone removed from her leg, an artificial bone inserted and is currently undergoing chemotherapy.

In the future she will have to have operations to lengthen the artificial bone as she grows.

Eloise has been given a ‘Little Star’ bravery award for children suffering from cancer and is hoping to be able to travel to London for the awards party.

The Singleton family, who belong to the church, organised a variety concert and the proceeds will go towards Eloise and her family, who live in Fermanagh.

The concert was presented by UTV’s Julian Simmons and a host of acts performed on the night, including The Leading Ladies, Baillesmills Accordion Band, Bakerloo Junction, dancers from the Wendy Gibson Ballet Academy, Harpist Lucy Milller, Violinist Hayley Howe and her husband Tim, The Mas, Cantabile from Wallcae High School.

Singer Caitlyn McCrea dressed as Elsa from Frozen and performed Eloise’s favourite song ‘Let It Go’.

Gwen Gibson, who helped organise the concert, thanked everyone for their support on the night.

“Everybody was so supportive and everyone gave freely and willingly of their time,” said Gwen.

She thanked the Rev Paul Dundas for providing Christ Church as the venue and thanks went to everyone at the church, including the men who helped to provide the lighting and sound on the night.
